AWAKE Artists in Somerset Digital Studio Magazine

— The latest edition of the finest digital artistry magazine in our industry recently hit bookstores around the world, and is already now available in digital format. And once again the artists of our advanced “AWAKE” group represent well over 3/4 of the art published!

Somerset Digital Studio Magazine (SPRING 2017)

UPDATE: The print edition is nearly sold out once more, so Somerset has released the DIGITAL Edition. This is especially nice for anyone overseas (where shipping costs can be pricey), but for anyone really, it’s a delight to view this stunning magazine on a tablet or computer. You can view the digital edition here . . .

This newest issue includes an absolute feast of exquisite artwork (and feature articles) by dozens of our advanced “AWAKE” artists, as well as a substantial article I wrote, titled “Typography as Art: Exploring the Creative use of Type as an Artistic Device” (complete with access to 2 hours of video training).

I don’t earn a penny from the sales of this magazine, but I’m always excited to promote it to the world because of the extraordinary quality of the content published there each spring and autumn.

It’s particularly exciting to see so many of my students published there. I’m just incredibly proud of them all.

Go check out the link above and you’ll find the actual table of contents from the magazine available (just click to enlarge).

If you’d like to get inspired and infuse your artistry with fresh new ideas, Somerset Digital Studio is the magazine you want on your coffee table this season.

I’d especially like to thank the wonderful “AWAKE” artists who contributed their artwork for my feature article:

* Annette Groulx Sturgeon
* Pamela Huntington
* Louise Campbell
* Joanne Caruth
* Linda Cowan Hall
* Beverly Everson
* Athol Murray Phillips

Many, many thanks for making my article a visual delight!

And congrats to all of the other “resident artists” of our program here, who saw their magnificent works of art featured or spotlighted …

* Billa Bozem
* Caroline Julia Moore
* Cathy Bueti
* Charlene Maginn
* Dale Botha
* Ingrid Pomeroy
* Jana Holden
* Janaina Oliveira
* Janine van Holthe
* Jean Hutter
* Joanne Caruth
* Kate Crossley
* Marianne van Arnhem
* Miki Krueger
* Patsy Tabbert
* Peggy Gatto
* Rebecca McMeen
* Sandi Terry
* Sharon Lamb
* Shelley Benjamin
* Tricia Dewey

And special congrats to our Sandi Terry and Janaina Oliveira, who had the greatest number of works included in this edition.

I’m SO incredibly proud of your extraordinary accomplishments. And positively delighted to see you in print!

– Sebastian

PS: It was also exciting to see work by our celebrated Billa Bozem on the cover, as well as one of my favorite works by Kate Crossley (not the least because it employs a photo I took of my darling Katie Lynn). I chose this image of Kate’s as the feature image on this post, in fact. You can view Kate Crossley’s extraordinary artistry on her ArtBoja portfolio page here: https://artboja.com/art/oif4lx/
